Recordings of Deborah Kavasch Compositions

Symphonic Chronicles, Vol. 1 Navona Records NV6519 (2023)
- Desert Storm
Deborah Kavasch's Desert Storm, recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra, opens this album released in 2023 by Navona Records. Written to celebrate the American victory in the Persian Gulf War, Desert Storm begins with a trumpet fanfare, a signal calling the troops to battle. Trombones and horns introduce the 5-bar motive in 5/4 upon which the rest of the piece is based, representing the playing out of changing events in the war followed by an underlying chorale of freedom in the concluding sections.

Legends and Light, Vol. 2 Navona Records NV6399 (2022)
- Lost Voices
In this 2022 release by Navona Records, Deborah Kavasch is one of seven composers whose works highlight cultures, locations, forces of nature, and human life. Her Lost Voices, recorded by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, honors all victims, those who have survived natural or man-made acts of violence, and those victims who are survived. The work has a programmatic progression through several phases: acts of violence involving attack, escape (flute solo) and capture are followed by grieving and acceptance (horn solo), support and recovery, and finally comfort and hope. Celestial Dreamscape: A Century of Music for Clarinet, Scott Locke, clarinetist, everglade records (2008)
- Celestial Dreamscape
Featured first on this recording of 20th- and 21st-century music for the clarinet is Deborah Kavasch’s two-movement Celestial Dreamscape for unaccompanied B-flat clarinet. The first movement, a stillness of moondrift, uses sustained tones and multiphonics to suggest the vast space and silence of a moonscape. By contrast, a sparkle of starlight, emulates through changing meters and articulations, hocket figures, and constant eighth notes the dancing, whirling, sparkling vistas of streams of stars.
